How to Select a Plastic Injection Molding Machine?

When selecting a Plastic Injection Molding Machine, many things should be considered. Consider the number of injections, power consumption, and quality of product. There are some other important factors to consider when purchasing a machine, as well. Also, keep in mind the end use of your product when choosing a machine.

Three injectors
The three injectors in a plastic injection molding machine solve the same technical problem. The injectors are simple, functional, and reliable, and they guarantee the good aesthetic quality of the moulded items. The injectors are located underneath the hot-chamber arm 2.

The injector is equipped with valve means that close the communication between the source of negative pressure and the cavity of the plug when not in operation. In the filling step, the injector is closed to partially open condition. In the packing step, the injector is set to a partially open condition. The process then continues until the desired shape is achieved. After a pre-set amount of time, the injector is brought back to its starting position by the spring 22.

The main body 41 of the mould is injected, while the secondary body 42 is formed in the same mould. The two are joined by a thin strip of red plastic. The second component, or lens, is then injected in the mould. The rear light lens is transparent, and meets the requirements for quality. When the rear light lens is correctly inserted, it conforms to the requirements for aesthetic and structural properties.

Two-shot (dual-shot) molding
There are many advantages to a two-shot (dual-shot) injection molder. In contrast to a single-shot machine, which uses a single molding unit, a two-shot system requires no separate injection molding machine. Basically, the two-shot process is used for manufacturing products where the substrate is molded with two different plastic compounds. The materials are fed into the mold through separate feed hoppers. Filling can be either manual or automated, depending on the type of part and the scale.

The benefits of two-shot molding extend to medical equipment, which are made from plastics with LEDs. These plastics are often made with a translucent insert for colour and spread light. Two-shot molded items also offer better hygiene and fewer crevices where the different sub-parts interface. Moreover, a two-shot mold is more expensive than a single-shot machine, but its efficiency can't be understated.

Power consumption
There are several methods used to determine power consumption of plastic injection molding machines. Specific energy consumption (SEC) is a measure of energy per mass unit. Power consumption profiles show how much energy is used in an injection cycle. A study of the energy usage of a single machine is rarely possible. Nevertheless, energy usage analysis can help determine the best energy-saving strategies for a particular machine.
